Levofloxacin 500mg Tablet is an antibiotic that belongs to the third generation of fluoroquinolones and is used in the treatment of bacterial infections in adults and children less than 6 months. Belonging to the class of drugs this medication is also known as quinolone antibiotics. This medication is used to treat infections including urinary tract, nose, throat, skin, lungs (acute pneumonia), bronchitis (inflammation of lung passages).
Further growth of the causative microorganisms is stopped as the medication helps in curing the infection from further spreading. As the bacteria can infect any part of the body and can cause infection by targeting different parts of the body more quickly so this medication is used to cure the bacteria and the infection. For viral infections including the common cold, flu this medication is not beneficial as this antibiotic treats only bacterial infections.
